Graduates versus Staff Paintball

On November 25 Rachel Fewster organised post-graduate and graduate students to play paintball at Splatman Kelly Park.

Due to Rachel's good organisation and motivation we were early, which meant the signposts were not out and we drove for miles out into the country on gravel roads.

After locating the place we were read instructions and were shown the equipment.

Seven staff (supplemented with two friends and Brian McArdle's son Brendan) battled ten students in three bloody rounds. In the first two rounds the staff won on points, and in the final round the staff captured the flag.

In the first round staff had strong defence, outflanking two speedy intruders (Tom and Greg) and dealing with them swiftly. Stephen and Mike had advanced into the student base just as the round ended and defence caught them.

In the second round the student base was again hard to approach. There were a few minor incursions, but nothing serious. Marti, Rachel, Mohan, and Brian launched a full-frontal assault on the student base. Greg ended up being shot in the mouth.

Selection of the base for the final round was done by Rachel tossing a fair coin. An ambush outside the staff base saw casualties on both sides, before an attack led by Brian McArdle's bottom brought the flag back.
