There are many studies within clinical trials, epidemiology, and public health research that address key questions requiring repeated measurement of outcome. Techniques for handling these types of data have received a great deal of attention in recent years and there have been some major advances in statistical methodology for carrying out the required longitudinal data analysis.
The main aim of this workshop is to familiarise the participants with the current best statistical practice in the analysis of longitudinal data, providing an in-depth understanding of the statistical methods as well as practical experience in using current software to carry out the analyses. The workshop is structured in three parts. The first will provide an introductory background to the used of mixed models. The second will form the major component of the workshop and will provide the participants with the skills and understanding to carry out longitudinal data analysis using current methods. We plan to include case studies carried out by New Zealand researchers to illustrate the methods. The third will extend knowledge further by discussing new research within this area.
